"This coffee is a lot made up of a combination of small yields from up to 600 farmers who work and live in the Arbegona highlands. These small-holders sell their cherry to Rumudamo washing station. Owned and run by Asefa Dukamo Korma, this station processes 350 tons of coffee per season, most of which is washed with a small amount as natural. Coffee is the main cash crop for the people of Rumudamo, though many also tend to others such as sugar cane, vegetables and False Banana. False banana, or Enset, is a significant plant for the peoples of South Ethiopia. This taller doppelganger to the true Banana tree creates great shade cover for the smaller more heat-sensitive coffee trees. That however is only the start. The trunk/stem is opened and the pith is extracted from that ‘kocho’ is made. Kocho is a heavy flatbread made by pulping and fermenting this pith and burying it for 3-6 months. The liquid that runs out from the plant while the pith is being extracted is saved too. The liquid is drained to retrieve a white powder which is used as a medicine to quicken the healing of wounds, pregnant women use the liquid itself to maintain good health, and finally the fibres from the plant are used to make ropes, mats or coffee sacks."

Dark Arts Coffee is a coffee roaster started by friends in East London with twisted visions of using alchemy to combine fire, water and magic beans into a divine elixir.
