'Whistle Down the Wind' by Nancy Collantine

Whistle Down the Wind, a solo exhibition by painter Nancy Collantine

17th June - 5th September

UNITOM Projects presents Whistle Down the Wind by painter Nancy Collantine. The exhibition brings together a new body of work originating from drawings made in the landscapes of Northern England. Using geography as a pretext for her painting, Collantine transforms these drawings into abstract works that explore the connection between geography and the body.

Through gesture, layered surfaces and shifting perspectives, the works evoke spaces that are both physical and psychological. Each painting records a process of experimentation, where drawing, paint and chance combine to create landscapes that are felt as much as they are seen.

Nancy Collantine is a Northern British painter with a studio in Goyt Mill, in Marple, Stockport. In 2025 she was longlisted in the John Moores Painting Prize and in 2022 was recipient of the Castlefield Gallery Award in the Manchester Open and finalist in the Beep Painting Prize. She completed two years with the Turps Correspondence Course 2020-22 and spent a year with alternative art school, the Islington Mill Art Academy in Salford in 2019.  This year Nancy was selected for the Irving Open and has been invited to exhibit in group shows in Manchester, London, Sheffield, Redcar and New York. She is a member of The Pearls, a Northern female painters collective.
