Takumi of Japan #1 - Origins
KZMU002 is here.
Takumi of Japan: Origins (Vol. 1) is the second release from Kizamu, following Shunkan of Japan (KZMU001) which was limited to 30 copies and has sold out now.
This zine is a quiet study of Japan’s food culture — from fishing ports to market stalls, ramen kitchens to street vendors — capturing the hands, tools, and traditions behind the dishes.
Takumi means “artisan” or “master craftsman” in Japanese — a spirit of skill, patience, and dedication that runs through every page.
Shot over three months across Japan, Origins (Vol.1) opens the two-part Takumi of Japan series, focusing on the craft and process before Moments (Vol.2) turns to the life happening around it.
Kizamu, meaning “to carve” or “to etch” in Japanese, is the ongoing publishing project behind the series — creating printed works that preserve fleeting moments in time from Japan.
