Continuing our zine series on food and personal experiences as queer ESEA (East / South East Asian) female immigrants, SPILLLL #4 talks about 'Migrating with food.'
The zine starts from a trip to Isle of Skye, where we shared local ingredients and home recipes. We expand the conversation to our personal stories on food and migration, showing where we left a piece of ourselves around the globe.
Often, women’s cooking and chitchat are slighted as being ‘domestic’ and insignificant. Asian cooking can be labeled as ‘exotic’, ‘stinky’, or ‘foreign’, and may be baits for racism. SPILLLL celebrates both, searing up saucy recipes and fiery political discussions.
