All artists, whether painters, directors, photographers, stylists, musicians or any other kind of creative, build spaces through their work that others want to inhabit or observe. Books transport us to other worlds, as do music, cinema and every other art form. Fashion designers dream up new universes with each show and collection, while film directors construct entire realms within their films. There is something deeply human in our desire to escape the mundane and lose ourselves in something otherworldly. A curiosity about the unknown, an attraction to the mystical and a longing to connect with something beyond our understanding. This issue is a celebration of creativity and an exploration of the unfamiliar – something we have an enduring need to seek out, dream about and experience.
