My two years as a steward at the pitch gate of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium unfolded against the backdrop of some of the club’s most turbulent recent seasons. From the same gate each matchday, I watched Tottenham finish 17th in two consecutive seasons, narrowly escaping relegation on the final game in 2026. Yet those years were not defined solely by anxiety and disappointment. Amid the turmoil came an unforgettable moment: the long-awaited silverware — the Europa League trophy — followed by a pitch invasion and scenes of unrestrained celebration. What may appear to be an ordinary role offered me an uncommon perspective on football — not merely as a sport, but as a living tradition shaped by loyalty, memory, and hope.
