Freedom isn’t just a subject in Solange Knowles practice, it’s the structure holding everything together. As her foundation in music continues to expand into visual art, design, and architecture, we meet the artist building a world entirely her own for the cover of LOVE.

The First Amendment protects the freedom of speech, yet for Young Thug it is something that has been compromised repeatedly. Also, to reduce someone’s legacy to a lapse is to ignore the scale of what has already been accomplished. Thug has reshaped not just rap’s sound, but how artists move, speak, and exist in the culture. His influence is not just musical, it’s infrastructural. For our Freedom issue we dive deep into his cultural imprint and how he was, and is, truly humbled under God.
