Design Anthology #20

It’s Design Anthology UK – but bigger and better. Having reached the milestone of issue 20, we’ve added over 30 extra pages to bring you even
more of the best design news, hotel openings, studio profiles, architecture, art and, of course, travel. To mark the launch year of D/A Trips, we bring you a conceptual shoot of travel accessories from established and up-and-coming brands. Travel Noir (p44) is a visual narrative – a glimpse of a secret mission, the details of which will remain a mystery. Elsewhere in the Journey section, one of our favourite travel correspondents writes from Romania, now firmly on the list of D/A UK-recommended destinations (p60).

On p34 we interview London-based duo and rising stars, Tutto Bene, whose work for Cubitts and Nightingale in Mayfair has the design world at attention; we highlight homes in Oxfordshire, Potsdam, London and – for a change of pace – a lush island in Oregon; and take a deep dive into the V&A’s Design and Disability exhibition opening in June (p132). On p160, the star of our Culture Edit, Apparatus founder Gabriel Hendifar, speaks of a “version of New York” that he clings to, which he finds in a restaurant on Prince Street, called Raoul’s. We love the idea of finding places and spaces that return you to yourself, or a memory of yourself in a different time. What gives a place soul and what makes it endure? It’s a question many are asking about Los Angeles. On p138 you’ll find a love letter to LA’s architectural legacy, and a look at what was lost in its wildfires and how the city – including its architects – will rebuild.

About Design Anthology:

"Design Anthology UK is a triannual print magazine spotlighting the best of design, architecture, art, travel and style across Europe. As with Design Anthology, our sister publication in Asia, we combine the highest production values with thought-provoking content, setting a new standard for premium design and lifestyle titles in the UK.

When we were shaping ideas for the inaugural issue, we asked two questions: What is our point of view? And, when there are countless other magazines covering design in Europe: Why now? The answer is fairly straightforward. We believe there is room for a new kind of considered, premium title that champions quality, beauty and innovative thinking.

Each issue is put together by our network of writers, photographers, editors and stylists – all bound by a commitment to creativity and candour. Far from a glossy catalogue to be discarded, Design Anthology UK is a collectible volume made by people who are passionate about print."
