On the 29th of June, The Sneezies made their way out onto UNITOM’s shop floor for the first time! It was wonderful to celebrate this collaboration with Tobbs and to see his toys make their in-store debut. After a successful (and adorable) launch party lots of Sneezies are already settling in with their new families, but we still have plenty looking for new homes.
Tobbs first created yeti-like puppets for stop-motion animations while he was at Manchester School of Art. For the duration of the pop-up customers will be able to view the Sneezies Archive: a display showing a selection of Tobbs’ priceless early designs. (Find this display in the glass cabinets by UNITOM's tills.) We're delighted to be supporting such a talented local artist and toy-maker. Tobbs still makes every Sneezie by hand and no two toys are the same!
Thank you to everyone who came along to support the launch. If you missed it don’t worry, the Sneezies will be available online and in-store during July. We hope you’ll be as charmed by these colourful little creatures as we all are.
Tobbs Launch Event:
Sneezies still searching for new homes:
...and many more.
Come by the store to see this delightful mini-exhibition of Tobbs' toys. These yeti-like characters were made during his time at Manchester Art School to feature in stop-motion animation projects. While not technically Sneezies (no distinctive colourful nose yet) it's clear to see how the current iteration of Tobbs' toy line developed from these slightly odder, but equally endearing, early designs. The Sneezies Archive will be on display for the duration of the pop-up.
