One of the most common questions we get in-store is: 'How do I get my work stocked here?'
UNITOM STORE proudly stocks independently published zines and welcomes artists, photographers, poets, and creators to submit their publications for consideration to be stocked on our shelves.
To submit your zine, simply bring a physical copy into the store, along with your name, publication name, contact information, and pricing details.
Here are a few top tips to consider before coming into the store with your publication:
Pricing:
It’s important to set a price that makes producing your zine sustainable, even if making a profit isn’t your main focus. Keep in mind that retailers, like us, typically take a 50% commission to cover the costs of stocking, promoting, and selling your zine.
Format & Presentation:
The type of printing, paper, and binding all impact both the cost and the overall feel of your publication. Because of this, we prefer to see a physical copy in its final form, just as it would appear on the shelf, so we can better assess how may fit within our store.
How to Submit:
Our buyer, Tim, is usually in-store during the week and is happy to review submissions on a walk-in basis. Alternatively, you can drop off your zine along with your details (name, contact info, publication title, and pricing) and return later.
What Happens Next:
If your zine is a good fit, we typically request 5–10 copies for initial stock on a sale-or-return basis, with a 3-month trial period. During that time, your zine will be available both in-store and listed on our website for global delivery.
