On Tuesday, 1st April, UNITOM had the pleasure of hosting an evening with the internationally renowned graphic designer and creative director Chris Ashworth, in conversation with Dr John Rooney of Manchester School of Art. The event was a celebration of Ashworth’s new book DISORDER SWISS GRIT VOL. II and provided a fascinating deep dive into his career.

From his iconic work with Ray Gun magazine to his boundary-pushing experimental typography, Ashworth reflected on how personal experience, serendipity, and a deep respect for craft have shaped his practice. The conversation explored the influence of Swiss typography and the work of Emil Ruder, alongside insights into the evolution of his unique design philosophy.
