REED MAGAZINE is a print and digital journal, that leverages Reed Art Department’s unique insight on modern streetwear culture. Our aim is to reinterpret the culture through an acute curatorial lens to tell authentic stories that matter & resonate across Sneakers, Fashion, Music, Art,Food, Nightlife.Each issue features an icon in their respective field, who will serve as that issue’s guest editor-in-chief & enable us to view the cultural landscape through their eyes and work.As we close the books on 2023, we figured who would be better to highlight in our third issue than the creative visionary and designer, NICOLE MCLAUGHLIN!

McLaughlin is a world-class designer.In 2018, a hobby evolved into a career, one that focuses on the ever-evolving exploration around up cycling and sustainable fashion. Taking a tongue-in-cheek approach to her creative process, Nicole has transformed old volleyballs into slippers, camera bags into bralettes, and crafted board shorts from packets of Haribo gummies. This unexpected translation of materials allows her to uniquely highlight the message of sustainability—a key element to her success in changing the perception around waste and sustainable design.
