This book explores Kat’s work, but it doesn’t try to make sense of it. The work is a mix of order and chaos, and we should embrace both those two as friends. The themes of ‘order’ and ‘chaos’ are recurrent in Kat’s work and also in my own thinking. We need some order in our creative practice, but at what cost does this come? The beauty of ‘chaos’ often gets side-lined in favour of predictability, reliability and conformity. But human nature isn’t predictable, reliable and I would hope it doesn’t always conform. We are more abstract than that.
